It has been said that Frederick Nesselrodt was a Hessian Soldier which is what they called German Soldiers that were paid or purchased from the English to fight on the side of the British in the Revolutionary War.
"If" this is true, it is my belief that Frederick took a deal offered to him by the Americans to dessert his unit for fifty acres of land.
